With both goalies letting in softies and making few, if any, noticeable adjustments to their games, we should dispense with the illusion that either goalie is "fighting" to lead this cellar team through its rebuilding years. Let's settle this the old-fashioned way. [This video is, by the way, my all-time favorite goalie fight]

Also, somewhat related: I am no longer interested in hearing about how “fatigued” players are. It’s a factor, sure, but it’s become meaningless by Ducks players being terrible even when rested.

Yeah, I wasn’t sure why, exactly, Carlyle had to lean on the first line during the road trip. The Register said it was because Calder was playing an ECHL series in Alaska? Seems silly this team waived Ebbett and Christensen only to sign Calder, send him to the ECHL and be ultimately unable to recall him during a road trip.
I’m sure fatigue was a factor, but Ahlers and Hayward never mentioned the fact that Carlyle was mismanaging the bench. Artyukhin showed a lot of jump, but coach didn’t realize it until the Pens game because he rarely played him. And they put Brookbank on the roster to not play him for the first period. At what point did Carlyle think this road trip was so salvageable that he thought he could play one-line hockey on its tail end?
