Bobby Ryan Contract Talks on Hold
Apparently the Ducks and Bobby Ryan have decided to halt contract negotiations until the end of the season. I'm not saying that's a bad idea considering Bobby only has one good/full season under his belt. However in that season he was a Calder finalist and key component of the Ducks success. This might just be CBC studio types bantering some rumors, but the article claims that the Ducks only offered Ryan 3 years. What is Murray thinking?! Three years isn't going to get it done, not when Ryan is heating up and looking like he'll at least match last years point totals. It's probably going to take 5 years to get Ryan's signature on a contract. With a little bit of quality negotiating, not that Murray's demonstrated he knows how to do that, maybe Bobby signs at 4.

If you can get Bobby in a three year 3M/yr. contract then you get the full value of Burke sheltering his development because Bobby only has a shortened season to bargain with at this point. That would be the thinking there.
