Ducks Acquire Kyle Chipchura
DANIEL:
Bob Murray continued his inexplicable obsession with former first round picks who nobody else seems to want. The Canadian Press is reporting that the Ducks picked up Canadiens center Kyle Chipchura for a 4th round pick in 2011. Chipchura, besides having a pretty awesome name, has zero points in 19 games this season, and only 4 goals and 14 points in 68 NHL games. To be fair, Chipchura is considered a bottom 6 forward who will be good on the PK. Chipchura was selected 18th overall by the Canadiens in the 2004 draft. The guys at Hockey's future seem to think his main assets are his size, 6'2" 205 lbs. and his ability to be good, but not great at a little bit of everything. You can read his player profile from the last time they examined Montreal's prospects here. This is probably a move to either make Artyukhin expendable, or cover for the loss of Calder. We'll get a better idea of what Chipchura's role will be when the Ducks play the Stars on Thursday.

A little insult to injury
This supposed defensive forward is -10 this year and -17 for his career. In 2:00 of TOI against Toronto he managed to be -2. Also, a scan of the TSN message board on this story reveals he might be a little slow as well. Another phenomenal acquisition by Murray.
Yeah well atleast EC is gone, he was what like a -40 in his career???
I swear you guys have a huge boner for Christiansen.
I deliver high-quality H2O
That’s because Christensen was playing well, and rounding a corner. One of the major problems we’ve had this year is that we haven’t let the guys who are playing well continue to play well. Christensen had 2-3 great games with Koivu and Selanne, and then was scratched. He played well on the road trip and then was scratched again. For some reason we didn’t want to give Christensen a full chance. And yes, Eric is -28 for his career. But he’s never been lower than -7 in any season. Part of that can be attributed to the fact that he was supposed to be an offensive player. I just think it’s ridiculous that a guy plays well and doesn’t get anything for it. That’s a great way to make sure that other people don’t want to play for your organization.
This from a guy...
with a huge boner for a DEFENSEMAN who’s been a minus player since he left Boston. If you want to get wood for a guy that doesn’t do his actual job, by all means, but I’ll stay impressed by a center’s saucer passing.
