Open Gameday Recap Thread Ducks @ Avalanche
DANIEL:
The Ducks tapped into their Disney roots and did a little magic in order to leave Colorado with a win and improve their record to 5-1-3 in their last 9. Craig Anderson was amazing for two periods turning away 28 shots. Jonas Hiller managed to keep pace and gave up only two goals, which allowed the Ducks to fight their way back and score 4 goals in the final 8 minutes.
Randy Carlyle proved he reads the blog, because in the third period he took Calder off the top line and put Bobby Ryan back on it. The line connected for the Ducks first goal when Bobby Ryan was in the crease and prevented Craig Anderson from getting across to stop a Scott Niedermayer shot. Big Sexy, A.K.A. Dan Sexton, continued his clutch ways by depositing the game tying goal, which was assisted by new line mate Matt Beleskey. Beleskey looked very comfortable along side Koivu and Sexton and might give the Ducks more scoring depth by letting Carlyle reunite the RPG line, which some have said is one of the most dominant in the league. The RPG line certainly looked dominant on the game winning goal when Perry took a feed from Ryan, charged the net, and then Getzlaf put in the rebound.
The Ducks keep finding ways to win. Let's hope it continues, and the Ducks can continue to fly as high as they did tonight.

Keep the RPG line, keep Belesky on the 2nd line, Calder looked very good on the third line with Marchant and Chipchura.
We’ll see a tone of more scoring with these lines. Calder, Marchant, Chipchura is a good combination of shut down/scoring depth. It’s because Calder couldn’t keep up with Perry and Getzlaf; there was no chemistry. Calder is with like-minded players on the 3rd line. He’s not so much worrying about scoring, rather than keeping the puck out of the Duck zone, which is perfectly fine for him.

I was thinking the exact same thing.
It seems like such a natural fit.
I was saying boo-urns.

I stand by my original comment in last night’s gameday thread: As long as he’s not eating up a slot in the top 6 I can hate him less.

I like how the appropriate barometer in your mind is how much you hate the player. Like Carlyle would tell Brown or Farrish to get you on the phone and get your emotional reaction to his depth chart. “Daniel loves Calder when we play him here. I mean, he’s sexually attracted to him when we play him here. We won’t move him for the rest of the season!”

As an Avs fan in Huntington Beach, I have only one complaint to register on this board: why in the freaking world did the Ducks black out the game last night??? I had to stream the thing online, which made those last 7 minutes that much more painful. Congrats on a fabulous comeback (grumble grumble, bitch bitch, stupid ass Avalanche can’t hold on to a lead even when it’s handed to them on a silver “you’re being outshot 4 to 1” platter) but I seriously am very mad at the Ducks organization right now. Grrrrrrr.

It was an unintentional blackout.
As far as I know, there were some technical difficulties with the Ducks home feed. Time-Warner, Fios, and DirecTV all had problems with it. The game actually came on KDOC sometime in the second period.
I was saying boo-urns.

The Ducks seemed clueless about it, too, as they went ahead with their official watch party at Oggi’s. I didn’t catch them the moment they came back on. Did anyone hear Ahlers or Hayward explain the situation?

gotcha
now i’m not so mad…at the ducks organization anyway. the ducks team on the other hand…why did they have to work so damn hard in the third? didn’t they get the memo that they were supposed to be all demoralized and roll over for that 2-0 loss? bastards. sheesh.

Blame Carlyle for putting Ryan in the top line. Expect that line to score goals.

Any team would try that on the Avs coming off back to backs. Your young kids should’ve had more in the tank.

our young kids haven’t figured out how to tap into the reserve tank yet. they’ll get there soon. i’m not worried; i’m thrilled they’re doing as well as they are especially considering we’ve not only got a ton of rookies playing, we’ve already called up 8 guys this season. i expected another top 3 draft pick so anything better than that is like christmas all season long!
i expect the ducks to turn it on from here on out. your guys should make the post season. Ryan is such a great player, so fun to watch…except when he’s…you know…playing against my team. ; – )
