***Koivu's Knee Sprained; Lupul's Back Infected***

THE TELETYPE:
Anaheim expects for veteran center Saku Koivu to be out 1-2 weeks after he suffered a sprained knee in the 2nd Period of Thursday's game against Los Angeles.  The club also reports that winger Joffrey Lupul has developed an infection in his back, keeping him out indefinitely.  Lupul had successful back surgery last month and was scheduled for an 8 week recovery.  The Ducks still expect the forward to return to the team this season, but they no longer have a definite time table for his recovery.

Koivu's injury came just one game after his countryman, Teemu Selanne, suffered a broken jaw whose 6-8 week recovery period stretches into the Vancouver Olympic games in February.

Is anyone else wondering what Lupul was doing to get his back infected? It’s not that hard to clean a wound.

For those of you keeping score at home. We traded Chris Pronger for Lupul (injured 75% of the season, thus far) and Sbisa (minors).

maybe it was an internal infection? don’t want to accuse his doctors of anything, but these things happen, I guess. Serves him right for calling out his nurse’s ability to speak English.

First, what a d-bag for the nurse comment. I’m sure he meant it to be funny, but yeah…not so much. I am slightly biased, though. My mom is a nurse (who speaks perfect english, even though she’s from West Virginia).

Second, I was thinking he might have been trying to hurry his recovery by working out, leading to an infection? I’m sure the Ducks got him the best doctors in So Cal, so I’d point this more towards him. Then again, I’m not a huge fan…

What does being from West Virginia have to do with speaking English?

If you’ve ever been to West Virginia, you’d understand. I can barely understand my uncle.

It’s a joke…Aww man. I just “Lupul-ed” myself.

Isn’t West Virginia the only state composed completely of the Appalachias? I’d assume that’s a different world.

Ya, the Pronger trade only hurt us this year.
