***Ducks Assign Sexton To Manitoba***

THE TELETYPE:
Anaheim announced today that it has reassigned rookie Dan Sexton to the Manitoba Moose of the AHL.  The move makes room for the recently acquired Jason Blake, as well as the now skating and rehabilitating Teemu Selanne.

Sexton, who was scouted and signed by David McNab from Bowling Green last season, has performed admirably for the Ducks, filling in for Teemu Selanne after he fractured his hand in December.  San Antonio declined to play the forward in his first stint in the AHL, and he was assigned to the ECHL until the Ducks front office could find a place for him in Manitoba where he played 5 games.  That was the limit of his professional hockey experience before posting 9 goals, 18 points, 14 PIM and a -1 in 28 games with the Ducks.  He also had a goal and an assist in the Ducks' last five games, which included four 1 goal efforts.

Anaheim also called up goaltender Justin Pogge from San Antonio, though he will likely only dress if Vesa Toskala is unavailable for the Ducks game against Florida tomorrow night.

Beleskey would probably be the next to go

when Selanne comes back or at least when Lupul comes back. I, personally, think it’s time to consider getting rid of Marchant and Bodie, but what do I know? I actually believe in developing rookies and David McNab’s signees.

Well I guess I’m the guy who doesn’t really mind over-incubation. Yeah, maybe not this year with no AHL team, but generally, fewer NHL points makes for a cheaper next contract.

I generally agree on our picks, but Beleskey is kind of medium-well right now. He can only overcook in AHL, and if we let that happen, then they’ll inevitably trade him somewhere where they give him a shot and he becomes an NHLer.

I generally disagree with McNab’s free agent signees, though. I think they should get ice time as soon as possible. That’s what gives McNab the clout when he travels to NCAA schools and talks to these kids. They have to believe him when he says that they will see playing time. And they generally do with the exception of a Bickel or a Glencross where the player or other members of the organization get in the way.

I think we should get rid of Bodie too. He doesn’t really serve an particular role and he is easily dispensable.

Marchant doesn’t seem as necessary anymore either. Nokes and Chipchura seem to be taking over his role as penalty killing, defensive forwards,

i just realized i implied bodie wasn’t a rookie. I had originally typed Artyukhin but thought better of it. For me, though, yeah, Bodie and Marchant seem much more expendable than Beleskey right now. If we can find a way to get rid of Boynton and Marchant’s contract at the deadline, we can re-sign some free agents.

I would like to see Carlyle give Blake-Koivu-Selanne a look, and move Ryan to the top line. Our top 2 would look a lot like our lines from 07 if Blake can get some chemistry with the Finns.

haha

i opened a new story window the moment kducker linked it in the other thread. Plus I couldn’t resist mentioning this was a David McNab signee pushed down in favor of a drafted rookie.

Also, and I know this goes against what I told you last time, apparently it’s better to do it as a fanshot any time it’s a link to a story. SB Nation guidelines. My apologies. Almost four months in and I’m still getting used to the way the bells and whistles work around here.

didn’t realize it until I promoted cupie’s niedermayer post and it wasn’t enclosed in any way. then I saw SC at Bad Left Hook point out to one of his readers how fanshots work. all my fault. sorry.
