ARTHUR:
According to Eric Stephens' notes on yesterday's practice, we're apparently calling out Ryan Getzlaf again. Many people disagree with my position on Getzlaf and stupid penalties, but I have to continue to defend him on this point. Maybe not to suggest that he has some right to misbehave, but rather that we shouldn't be asking a player to both be someone else and be the best version of that someone else. If you want him to play clean, you'll see a lot of bad perimeter passing and no shooting, and I don't know what in Getzlaf's career would imply he's so good on the outside that we need to ask him to get BACK to that. Plus, after watching Joshua Clottey go 12 rounds with Manny Pacquiao, I'm inclined to lessen my expectations of ANY player whose established style in professional sports indicates he's not going to deliver what we're asking.
For anyone who's left this team for dead, tonight is an opportunity to not get swept on the season by the Sharks. That alone is worth the price of admission. If the team can't show any emotion for that, I think we should book up all the April tee times in Southern California just to spite them. Force them to sit at home for a couple weeks and think about what they've done.

Yeah, sorry. Daniel and I hung out this weekend after Friday’s game, so it threw my schedule off. We were trying to crash the Wildwinger’s Kids Club event at Knott’s yesterday. We were able to get everyone’s signature but Getzlaf’s at last year’s event, but they were much tighter on letting non-voucher holders grab a free signature at this year’s.

oh, the event was saturday morning. So i hung out with Daniel and his brother friday night and after the event yesterday. That involves a lot of NHL 10, junk food eating, etc. We were at the 24 hour Wal-Mart in Hawaiian Gardens at midnight last night buying Oreo Cakesters, if that’s any illustration.
I was actually thinking of adding watch links to the gamedays from now on. I know AndyDucks does it at his blog, but I only know of a few different sites for streams.

Yea I think adding links is great cause you do get fans who are at work sometimes. I also only know a few off the top of my head as I haven’t looked for many since football ended.

Troy Bodie, who believe it or not CAN sign his own name. No x’s or stamps were involved. heh heh. They always have one guy giving out a free signature in case you’re just walking around Knott’s. Usually a tough guy, I think, because it was Mike Brown last year.

I guess they count as fan favorites by virtue of fighting. It was funny this year because they paired bodie at the signature table with Wildwing: two fan favorites in theory. In reality, Wildwing held up the line all day, and forced Bodie to sit there, and he looked at him with a degree of contempt I haven’t seen since The Sorrow And The Pity

If I could’ve gotten a signature from Sexton yesterday, I would’ve asked him why he doesn’t finish his checks anymore. I think that would’ve been rather jarring for a guy dealing with 9 year olds all day. Suddenly a big guy in a peacoat is like, “where’d the checking go, man?”

it’s just 600. Makes him one of the few European players to reach 600, but it still just 600. 601 ties Kurri, 602 beats him, making Teemu the greatest Finnish scorer of all time. Those are the big ones.

haha, in Sexton’s defense, I would have asked him that question, but i’m 99% sure the coaching staff asked him to focus on using his speed and not finishing EVERY check. They were very obligatory finishes anyways, but he’s really good at pinning, just like he did on Thornton there. I liked seeing it from a rookie.

oh, no, that’s sitemeter. Statcounter’s a little more specific. Nothing personal, but if you reach us from a registered site, we see the title. Any front offices that read Anaheim Calling are immediately identified by name. someone from the US House of Representatives was reading the site last week. Again, nothign personal, no one have a big brother freak out, but we DO statcount here on the last 500 pageloads.

Also, I guess now that Teemu has 599 goals, I’m going to be forced to start watching again(and therefore I’ll be back to commenting at game time). I haven’t watched the past two or three games in an attempt to prevent eye gouging.
