Selanne And Getzlaf Officially Day To Day

The OC Register is reporting that Teemu Selanne suffered a shoulder sprain in yesterday's game against the Sharks and is officially listed as day to day with another evaluation set for tomorrow. Ryan Getzlaf, meanwhile, aggravated the ankle injury he suffered prior to the Olympics, but no further damage was found after an MRI exam. The Ducks center is also listed as day-to-day. The team faces Chicago in Anaheim on Wednesday. George Parros, who was also injured yesterday during the team's morning skate, will be available for that game.

UPDATE 3-16: Tanya Lyon of The OC Register filed the video report below with an update on Teemu. The Register says both players declare themselves likely for tomorrow:

Good. Clearly the loss of both players will motivate everyone to work extra hard, resulting in a payoff many victories, which will then further expand when these sirs return.

We’re basically mathematically guaranteed to be in the playoffs. We can all finally relax. Whew!

heh heh. The other centers will have to come up big, no doubt, but I’m actually not sure how tough the loss of the current Getzlaf is. This team imploded without him around New Year’s, but I don’t know if they’ll miss the turnovers so much while he heals during this stretch. Obviously they’ve done okay without selanne. we’ll just have to see how Marchant, Chipchura and Carter handle things, and how much Calder does exactly.
