Open Gameday Thread Ducks @ Coyotes

Anaheim Ducks at Phoenix Coyotes, Mar 6, 2010 5:00 PM PST

Next Game

ARTHUR:
The facelift begins tonight.  The bench has its new door man, the new blueliners have side-by-side lockers, and we may see three legitimate scoring lines:

Beleskey-Getzlaf-Perry

Blake-Koivu-Selanne

Ryan-Carter-Sexton

The Ducks are one GP behind the current 8th seed logjam, but they're also 5 points out.  The Coyotes, meanwhile, are jockeying for the 4th seed with the Kings, and both teams sit about 10 points back of the Sharks.  Anaheim has done well against the Coyotes this season (2-1-2), or at least better than they've fared against the rest of the Pacific Division.

Post any game info and lineup changes in the comments.

I just found out about this looking at the statcounter the other day, but we were linked on The OC Register blog, ever so briefly, on the Bob Murray lawsuit story. I don’t know in what context, but we had a link and pulled something like 200 hits off of it. I’m kind of surprised at how many people read the OC Register blog. I’ve got to find a way to get us linked on there again.

According to the comments of that post, they linked to AC, because you had the link to the formal legal complaint.

by yankeeken on Mar 6, 2010 1:32 PM PST up reply actions

yeah, i saw that we had a link from their Murray story and that a commenter had noted we had the formal complaint. But they linked to our main page, not to our story, or so statcounter told me. And then, when I went to check the context of the link, they had changed it and were just linking to the link I have up from Court House News. Pretty cool to be linked on there. I’m not sure how often they link to Ducks blogs, but I remember when they linked to Abel 2 Yzerman in the playoffs last year it seemed to get Sleek a little heated.

Any spec on the defensive pairings?

UNRELATED: Handel is the most overrated composer ever...

by Bleys on Mar 6, 2010 2:09 PM PST via mobile reply actions

Not that I’ve heard.

by yankeeken on Mar 6, 2010 2:14 PM PST up reply actions

In a practice that NIedermayer did not attend, Curtis Zupke of the Register said that they tried Wisniewski out with Ward and Visnovsky out with Eminger. That would leave Brookbank with Niedermayer, so I doubt that makes it to ice. Then again, they played Festerling with Niedermayer plenty last year, so it’s not out of the question.

Checking in

from Phoenix. First Dfucks game on the road!

What do u guys think about bobby gettin dropped to third line?

by PhantomPretender on Mar 6, 2010 2:17 PM PST via mobile reply actions

i don’t think carter’s got the speed/playmaking that Koivu has, but if Sexton and Ryan can create enough trouble together, it’s a legit threat.

by Arthur from Anaheim Calling on Mar 6, 2010 2:59 PM PST up reply actions

The arena is really quite nice

I’d estimate 20 to 30 percent Ducks fans.

by PhantomPretender on Mar 6, 2010 4:23 PM PST via mobile up reply actions

I went to a Ducks game in Phoenix back in December and the arena didn’t seem all that impressive. At least not as impressive as Philips Arena in Atlanta.

If you got the all you can eat tickets beware. The hot dogs are wretched.

by yankeeken on Mar 6, 2010 4:29 PM PST up reply actions

as I am interested in all things all-you-can-eat, is anything NOT wretched?

by Arthur from Anaheim Calling on Mar 6, 2010 5:26 PM PST up reply actions

The all you can drink soda.

by yankeeken on Mar 6, 2010 7:19 PM PST up reply actions

That call kind of sucks for Noks. You’ve got to call it. I hope this PP does more than what I’ve seen so far…you know nothing.

by Daniel AC on Mar 6, 2010 5:14 PM PST reply actions

I don’t know if this is a tight called game, or a sloppy one.

by Daniel AC on Mar 6, 2010 5:27 PM PST reply actions

i wonder why Ward wears that helmet so loose. bad move, old man

by Arthur from Anaheim Calling on Mar 6, 2010 5:30 PM PST reply actions

because he’s a bad ass who doesn’t need a helmet, or a future where he feeds himself and doesn’t wear diapers.

by Daniel AC on Mar 6, 2010 5:31 PM PST up reply actions

born to be a backup

you could kind of hear hayzie holding back the tears

by Arthur from Anaheim Calling on Mar 6, 2010 5:33 PM PST reply actions

vis/wiz=terrible pairing. every pairing should have at least one person tall enough to ride the matterhorn

by Arthur from Anaheim Calling on Mar 6, 2010 5:35 PM PST reply actions

LOL, or that isn’t prone to turning the puck over.

by Daniel AC on Mar 6, 2010 5:36 PM PST up reply actions

That’s a headds up play Wiz.

by Daniel AC on Mar 6, 2010 5:37 PM PST reply actions

this officiating crew isn’t letting anyone slide.

by Arthur from Anaheim Calling on Mar 6, 2010 5:38 PM PST up reply actions

I was being sarcastic. Were you? Although, I kind of disagree. I’ve seen two picks by Coyotes players go uncalled in the last minute or so.

by Daniel AC on Mar 6, 2010 5:40 PM PST up reply actions

well, he should know they’re not letting anything go, but there are refs who might have let that go since one guy stumbled out of the play. Visnovsky should have tried to make that play without a stick. I don’t mind picks getting let go at a coyotes home game, but the refs are obviously making calls to get some respect from the players, so it’s not the time to ask them to look the other way

by Arthur from Anaheim Calling on Mar 6, 2010 5:45 PM PST up reply actions

Way too many penalties. We haven’t been able to get anything going.

by Daniel AC on Mar 6, 2010 5:38 PM PST reply actions

marchant’s just too little to do anything about Prucha there. We should really trade marchant. I don’t know if we’ll need his salary next year, but we can certainly put a cheaper player there

by Arthur from Anaheim Calling on Mar 6, 2010 5:40 PM PST up reply actions

I like Marchant, but he’s definitely lost a step. I miss Robbie. I think letting him go was a mistake.

by Daniel AC on Mar 6, 2010 5:42 PM PST up reply actions

twas, but right now we can put chipchura or carter there for much cheaper. we should be trying it.

by Arthur from Anaheim Calling on Mar 6, 2010 5:43 PM PST up reply actions

Agreed, Chipchura’s been surprisingly efficient, and if we don’t let Carter settle into a role soon we might end up wasting him.

by Daniel AC on Mar 6, 2010 5:44 PM PST reply actions

we need offense

I don’t understand carlyle. Why even make lines when ur just gonna go back to rpd?

by PhantomPretender on Mar 6, 2010 5:53 PM PST via mobile reply actions

Is it to early for a FOWL?

by Newport Rebel on Mar 6, 2010 6:18 PM PST up reply actions

I think it’s just about that time.

by Daniel AC on Mar 6, 2010 6:19 PM PST up reply actions

Not to be a fair weather fan… but I don’t know if I can watch any more of this.

by Newport Rebel on Mar 6, 2010 6:22 PM PST up reply actions

that’s not being a fair weather fan; it’s being a human with eyes

by Arthur from Anaheim Calling on Mar 6, 2010 6:23 PM PST up reply actions

i thought we were a team built to score

WTF is this shit? And the coyotes goal horn is unnecessarily loud.

by PhantomPretender on Mar 6, 2010 6:22 PM PST via mobile reply actions

if it makes you feel better, anaheim has the first or second most despised goal horn league-wide

by Arthur from Anaheim Calling on Mar 6, 2010 6:22 PM PST up reply actions

And unnecessarily crappy as well.

by Newport Rebel on Mar 6, 2010 6:22 PM PST up reply actions

third time this game

getzlaf has made a pass directly into a defender’s skate

by Arthur from Anaheim Calling on Mar 6, 2010 6:25 PM PST reply actions

At least it wasn’t the defender’s stick

by Daniel AC on Mar 6, 2010 6:26 PM PST up reply actions

yeah, that’s what you tell yourself turning it over on the power play. I thought the olympians were supposed to be the ones who WEREN’T rusty

by Arthur from Anaheim Calling on Mar 6, 2010 6:27 PM PST up reply actions

I don’t know, but they’re about two losses away from eliminating themselves from the playoffs.

by Daniel AC on Mar 6, 2010 6:28 PM PST up reply actions

Well at least we know the answer to the question everyone was asking.

Will the olympic break hurt the Ducks?

I think we can fill that one in a big yes now.

by Newport Rebel on Mar 6, 2010 6:29 PM PST reply actions

I guess so. I can’t understand it. Both games have been just blatant lacks of effort.

by Daniel AC on Mar 6, 2010 6:30 PM PST up reply actions

This makes me never want to travel

to see the Ducks again. They’re 9 different kinds of awful tonite.

by PhantomPretender on Mar 6, 2010 6:45 PM PST via mobile reply actions

Everytime I hear the Coyotes have taken a penalty I cringe. Like I need to sit through this horrible powerplay AGAIN.

by Daniel AC on Mar 6, 2010 6:52 PM PST reply actions

Can we possibly such this much?

by yankeeken on Mar 6, 2010 7:21 PM PST reply actions
