I actually thought 76-77 Canadiens before reading the article. The game was totally different, and he artfully dodges the fact that a 77 Dryden is closer to his prime than an 07 Jiggy, but I’m most disturbed by the fact that he comes to the conclusion we’d be “too physical and too nasty” for them. The same team that neutralized the ‘76 Broad Street Bullies is going to be afraid of the Ducks? I’m pretty sure Larry Robinson would just dent the boards with Andy McDonald and move on with his life. I mean, Pronger can throw all the elbows he wants, but until you make the imprint of a human being on the boards, and have it sit there as a constant reminder for the entire game, you haven’t “intimidated” anyone.
I love the Ducks, and that team could have beaten damn near anyone playing in the same era, but his argument doesn’t really hold water. Not when the Canadiens came from a nastier time. Maybe if he pointed out that Selanne was a stand-up goalie serial killer, I’d see it, but the idea that we were just too nasty for the team on which, historically, nastiness was ineffective sound crazy.

Consider this your last warning. Multi-comments will get you banned, at least temporarily, on your next offense.
