NHL 11 WILL have CHL player names/likenesses

Reader jwood8103 forwarded me a press release-- thanks jwood8103! --he received from the Seattle Thunderbirds which confirms our earlier story that the EA Sports video game NHL 11 will have all CHL teams in it.  And, per the press release:

The licensing agreement between EA SPORTS and the CHL allows the following to be included in NHL 11: ·Ability to play with all 60 teams that make up the CHL ·Names and Likenesses of players that are on the rosters of a CHL team ·Mastercard Memorial Cup ·CHL new RBK Edge Jersey design in NHL 11 ·WHL, OHL and QMJHL logos and league structures

The CHL integration in NHL 11 will tie to several modes in the game, including Be A Pro, Be A GM, Tournament Mode, Season Mode and Playoff Mode.

So, if you're dying to call up Peter Holland and force him into the Ducks lineup in next year's game, you can do it.   Hopefully, you will also have access to players in limbo like Deschamps and Cousineau, who have yet to join a professional union, but finished up their CHL time this year.

Interesting. Hopefully EA will be improving a lot of other things as well as they have with involving other leagues in the game.

There's nothing to see here. And nothing gazes back at me.

that actually wasn’t directed at you, just an example of someone we know for certain will still be in the CHL next year. Couldn’t really think of anyone else off the top of my head.

is it possible for holland to play in the ahl next year or if it’s not what was the point in signing him to a deal if he’s not even eligible for some ahl time?

by Albert K on May 22, 2010 4:16 PM PDT up reply actions

No, it’s not possible. He’s a January ’91 birth.

A contract locks him in at that price and opens up the possibility of him starting in the NHL with us next year if we want him to, but we could not send him down to the AHL. He’s NHL or Juniors only next year.

They really need to put into NHL 11 the types of contracts that are in real life and throw some CBA in there to really screw with people.

Cool. I may actually have to buy NHL 11 for my 360.

yeah unless we were getting junior players i was thinking of saving some money but looks like it will be another good investment

There are definitely additions. People are talking about the broken stick and physics engine displayed in this screenshot, but it also looks like they’ve upped the crowd animation a few rows back. Rowdy hosers in the suites!

awesome maybe some new commentators would be nice too

Plus its probably time for me to update my hockey library anyway. NHL 07 is getting pretty dated and NHL 2k9 is lacking a lot of the polish found in EA games.

as someone who used to work on the 2K series, I’ll go on record as saying that I’m not surprised, but EA stepped it up in gradual stages before 09. They didn’t seem to commit to fully overhauling the game until then.
