***Ryan Carter Waived***
THE TELETYPE:
Per a tweet by Kevin Allen of USA Today, the Ducks have placed center Ryan Carter on waivers. The Mankato product was due 725K in salary from the Ducks for the 2010-11 season, but his position in the lineup was uncertain as Anaheim's re-signed pivots this offseason, Saku Koivu and Kyle Chipchura, join Ryan Getzlaf and Todd Marchant to make a full roster. The Ducks may also look into rookie options like Nick Bonino next year.

I said this on a different thread, but I’ll be really said to see Carter go. He had a lot of upside, and I wish Carlyle would have used him more. He looked ready to solidify his role until he broke his foot and we picked up Chipchura.
seems like a dumb move when we should really just be trading Marchant, but coming during Camp, maybe they like what they’re seeing in the locker room.

Yeah, Carter was pretty cool, but if Randy’s not going to play him then I guess this doesn’t really change a whole lot.

And I hope you find it through this endless wandering.
well, depends. I hope we’re not buying him out. That and Oystrick, we’d slowly start spending that Bertuzzi buyout money again.

I hate buyouts. It’s too early to get worried about next season, but this deadlock that Kovalchuk is causing in the offseason is really starting to annoy me. I feel like nothing is happening. Moreover, I still think Carter has what it takes to be a great checking line center. It’s seems ridiculous to give away the next Marchant when Marchant will be gone next year anyway.
I’m guessing nobody would take Marchant’s contract
There's nothing to see here. And nothing gazes back at me.
yeah we did overpay for a guy who only kills penalties. what the hell is marchant good for anyway? keep carter… another bonehead move by our GM…..
Oh....I remember that one.
It makes me happy. Also, if we got rid of Marchant, who would score our empty netters?

or our shorthanded goals. March’s contract goes to 1.25M which is equal to the combined salary of Sexton and Beleskey. Don’t know if he’s worth their two paychecks for next year, but he was one of our most consistent guys last year.

I also think he proves to be one of the characters in the locker room that gives a different presence for the young guys. Also seems to really like it in anaheim, i don’t mind marchant.
At least we never resigned Rob Wienermeyer.
well, I’d like the flexibility of trying out rookies, so I actually do mind Marchant for next year, but I have no qualms with how he played this past year. Same way I feel about Eminger. I’d rather see what some of our guys on the farm have than pay Em that 1.5M. So if moving their contracts opens up that flexibility, I’d love to see both of them moved.

Another youngster whose career was put on hold due to Carlye’s system. I’m very disappointed however I’m not too surprised.
I still wish some could explain to me why we’re getting rid of both Brown and Carter when we still have two sets of clones in our bottom 6 (Chipchura & Marchant) and (Bodie & Parros)
We need more Boyntons.
I think that Troy Bodie may have a higher ceiling than we originally thought.
There were times near the end of the year that he looked less and less like Lurch on skates and more like a bigger hockey player with some unpolished (albeit limited) hockey skills. Maybe Bodie has something more to offer, or maybe it was just a flash or two of brilliance (like watching Rain Man count the toothpicks) in an otherwise dreary goon career.

I tend to prefer big guys who used to play defense for intelligence quotient, which is why I kind of prefer McCue to Bodie right now. Murray says he hopes Bodie’s ceiling is Moen, but I don’t know if Bodie can come up with that kind of defense.

I would be thrilled if Bodie turned into Moen.
Is it sad that that’s where my expectations have fallen now? That I would be really excited if a guy could possible be as good as Travis Moen.

haha, Moen was smart about holding his guys up and taking their legs out on checks. Even if not a positional wizard, he bent the rules to take his guys out of plays. So he certainly produced some defense. Nothing wrong with wanting a guy to be that effective.
