I think the Ducks will make the playoffs
6-8 seed, I also think that San Jose might fall a bit more than that . . . the Pacific division title might be a close race this year between SJ/LA/PHX/ANA.
ANGELS . . . DUCKS . . . GOLDEN BEARS
Sharks at 2?
yes, the sharks are good, but i think doug wilson has finally snapped with all the early playoff exits, letting nabokov walk and sign nittymaki instead? wasnt nittymaki a backup?

Seriously. That may have been the worst off season move in the NHL this year. I think Sharks fans were starting to take for granted just how good Nabby was. I am so glad he is gone and they replaced him with a backup.

…Nabby really didn’t provide much better than average goaltending at even strength. He had a fluke season a couple of years ago which makes him look better but Nittymaki is a sideways step which allows them to, say, sign Willie Mitchell.
If you want content, go to the Copper and Blue. If you want numbers, go to Behind the Net. If you want craziness, go to Pension Plan Puppets. If you want humor, go to Battle of California. If you want discussion, go to Broad Street Hockey. If you want bravery, go to Five For Howling.

Okay . . .
1. Canucks (I agree with them there)
2. Blackhawks (I know they took a few steps back, but they should win the Cen. Div.)
3. Coyotes (The Pac. Div. will be a tight race, but I think PHX can take it)
4. Red Wings (Hate to have them in the playoffs at all, but they are good—unfortunately)
5. Sharks (I think the loss of Nabokov may hurt them more than people think)
6. Ducks (Hey, I’m optimistic)
7. Kings (They’re good, even though I hate them: the 6-9 teams are all interchangeable)
8. Blues/Avalanche
9. Avalanche/Blues
10. Flames
11. Wild
12. Predators
13. Stars
14. Blue Jackets
15. Oilers
ANGELS . . . DUCKS . . . GOLDEN BEARS
Blasphemy. Everyone knows that it is impossible for both the Ducks and the Kings to make the playoffs.
We need more Boyntons.
Well I guess we will have to sit back and watch the Kings implode this year. I am ok with that by the way.

I don’t think the Coyotes or the Flames will make the playoffs. The Coyotes had an us versus the world attitude last year and I think some teams looked passed them early in the season. I like Bryz but I do not think he can duplicate what he did last year and he will have to do that in order for them to have a chance at the playoffs. The Flames do not have enough scoring in order to make the playoffs. I think the Ducks will make the playoffs as a 8 seed.
Yeah, they won a ton of shootout games and had a poor offense (but great D), but they can also afford to lose around 10 points and still make it in. I can’t see them falling THAT far.

1. Nucks
2. Sharks
3. Wings
4. Hawks
5. Kings
6. Ducks
7. avs
8. Preds/Blues/Yotes
I think the west will be a lot closer this year from 4 seed down.
Nucks have the best team top to bottom in the West.
Eventhough sharks do not have a goalie there are some FAs available that can fill the hole for their high powered offense but once there in the playoffs they’ll drown.
Wings will be back to normal. Howard will have a second full season under his belt so he knows what to expect. I hate the wings but if they stay off the IR they’ll be a force.
Blackhawks… yeah their depth is gone.. Cap is a mess.. they have some awesome players and still will make the playoffs but no where close to what they were last year…
Im going to get shit for this but im also a kings fan too… It just depends what stadium im in to see the game.. but believe it or not they have a better team than the ducks. They have an underrated defense and their forwards are maturing every year. And best of all they have some of the best young goalies in the league. They are one or two pieces away from being a legit contender.
The Ducks will be well rested and primed for Shamu’s last year. Ducks have Cap space for a piece at the deadline and hiller will be better protected and ready for a full season of work. If bobby comes back.. they might switch spots with the Queens. The Pacific will be the closest it has been in the last few years so the race will go down to the last few weeks.
Avs. I dont know about them. Anderson had a year last year but faded toward the end.
My first choice is the Preds for the 8th spot. Pekka Rinne is an awesome goalie with some of the best young defensemen in the league. They’ll be there in the end.
Blues.. maybe.. just because of Halak.. but they gave up two stud prospects for him that are supposed to be playing this season. It will be close… because of halak.

It will be close… because of halak.Yotes surprised us last year and they can do it again this year.. Bryz was unbelievable and when you have a great goalie growing and not receding you have a chance.
The Blues are STACKED with young developing forwards and their defense isnt bad. They’ll make the playoffs.
Well, Brewer and Jackman are their minute munchers and they didn’t do so well last season, even compared to the other Dmen in STL. Pietrangelo will likely have growing pains as his auditions in the NHL have been pretty bad thus far.
