Selanne Says Kariya Reunion is 'Quite Possible' (but...y'know, in Finnish)
Google Translate offers this for the link:
--"Actually I was talking with Paul last night. It is quite possible. He, too, of course, expect me to my decision, "said Selanne Evening newspaper--

Oh, you Finnish, you make things so much more risque than they are. From Google Translate:
NHL : Anaheim ’s rumor mill is connected to Selänne former bedfellow Paul Kariya.
I didn’t know they were bedefllows.
It might be a literal translation of roommate, since they roomed together in Anaheim. Selanne complained that Kariya went to bed waaaay too early as I recall.

It is a wrong translation of finnish word “aisapari”. Correct might be partner or so.

finnish speaker? if you could give us a better translation, it would be much much appreciated :)

Yes, I’m finnish speaker, but I’m sorry, I think my english is so bad that my translation could seems much ridiculous than Google Translator ever. Couple of words goes, but that’s it. :D

You’re right, in this case linemate is better. Engish is nicer than swedish, anyway. :p

I’d love to have him back home. Let him finish with us on a good note so we can start talking about retiring 9 right after we retire 8.
Dude how about retiring them on the same night? It would be like PB&J, batman and robin, daniel & texas, and Albert and posting. What do you think?

It would be like PB&J, batman and robin, daniel & texas, Jen & Lupul and Albert and posting
I agree. It would be pretty cool to see both 9 and 8 retired on the same night. Now if only we would trade Ryan for D in order to free up number 9…
We need more Boyntons.
You’re obsessed Ken…

I’m willing to give the guy a chance. As long as he heals up in time for the season and produces for the Ducks, he’ll have a clean slate with me.

Forgiveness is a beautiful thing. Now we just need you to let Paul come back home.

she’s gonna ride the hateful anger train for all it’s worth. Let her. We’ll need it to balance out Daniel’s and my renditions of “Oh Happy Day”

…like Earl and Cartoons, Gretzky and Kurri (stretch I know, lemme alone), Kings and awfulness, Wellwood and Chocolate, George Michael and Egg.
I'm torn . . .
I would love to see those two together in Anaheim one last time, however, the way PK left is pretty unforgivable.
ANGELS . . . DUCKS . . . GOLDEN BEARS
Great idea....if
Bob signs Kariya and ships him to the Islanders within 10 minutes.

it’s hard for me to take any of your ‘mark my words’ statements seriously when they don’t end with the promise of you in a bikini :)

Arthur is not married. That’s part of the reason I laughed. If you knew Arthur better, you’d understand why it’s funny.
Just to be clear, Daniel means that I hate people and long term relationships, not that I’m some untouchable or something.

hmmmm. The quote about Paul at the end seems the same as this one. I’m not willing to treat this as anything more than a better translation at this point.

Im not even so sure its a better translation….. just a different one. We all knew he was coming back so really the only news is that the possibilty of Kariya joining the team went up to about 75%. Given this news what the heck are we gonna do with Blake and Lupul and the bottom half of our lineup? Lets just assume that Selanne, Bobby, and PK sign the lines would look like this
Belesky- Getzlaf-Perry
Ryan-Bonino-Lupul
Selanne-Koivu-Kariya
Voros-Marchant-Parros
Where do Carter, Blake, Chipchura and Sexton fit in?
I’m lost then because that’s the first time i read him say he was returning.
either way, it’s a good thing. Almost makes me forget the ginormous hole on D.
I posted it as a news story, because I think the first part is new. The last quote on Kariya sounds a little too much like the other story, and I as I’m not familiar with news outlets in Finland and what they can claim comes from where, I don’t know if he said all of this to one reporter at one time.
by Arthur from Anaheim Calling on Aug 6, 2010 1:44 PM PDT up reply actions
Well, I think Kariya actually becomes an insurance policy on Lupul. I have no idea where Lupul is, health wise. Then I think Bonino has always been a stretch for this year, leaving Marchant as his insurance policy. An ailing Lupul and an impressive Bonino becomes a Marchant and Blake/Lupul trade maybe. If the young guys pan out, the old guys get moved. If the young guys don’t pan out, the old guys stay right where they are. There should be some healthy competition earlier in the year. And the Ducks have said they want to find Carter a place to play, so right now they don’t see him as getting competitive ice time to open the season it doesn’t seem.
