Anaheim Clippings - 8/7/10

A Paul Kariya tribute-- seems relevant considering recent rumblings --from the YouTube channel of Ducks blogger Andy Elvstrand (AndyDucks).  It actually opens with some impressive highlights with the Blues, tracing his career back to only a couple of Anaheim highlights.

In case you were wondering if Kyle Palmieri might join Peter Holland in Guelph for a year, the Ducks have reportedly let the Storm know they plan to send the former Fighting Irishman to the AHL next year.

Guelph Storm have been told Anaheim Ducks plans to start prospect Kyle Palmieri in the #AHL. Guelph holds #OHL rights (per Guelph Mercury).via TweetDeck

Bobby Ryan, via his new-ish Twitter account, takes the ice with current (former?  heh heh) teammate Ryan Getzlaf and former Duck Dustin Penner.

Great workout with Getz and Penner today. On the ice again as well!! Seasons getting close!via Echofon

Ducks Towels is taking suggestions for where to invade China.  The Great Wall comes to mind (get it?  invasions...China...Great Wall... '//), but were I in China with a Ducks Towel, I'd probably hop a flight to Hong Kong to drape one around the neck of the Bruce Lee statue.

Now taking suggestions for Anaheim #Ducks Towel Invasions for Beijing, China! #AnaheimDucks http://duckstowels.blogspot.comvia web

Puck Daddy - Earl Sleek Introduces Mount Duckmore
If you missed it, and there's almost no way you could have, Sleek guested on Puck Daddy to open the Mount Puckmore series, naming the four faces he feels defined the Ducks franchise. Nice work, Sleek!

The Hockey News - NHL Agent Proof Diversity Has Taken Hold in Hockey
THN profiles Eustace King, agent to Emerson Etem and Devante Smith-Pelly as well as Wayne Simmonds and some of the NHL's biggest and brightest African-American and African-Canadian stars. I wanted to profile Mr. King last month, but couldn't get my schedule together with his. Luckily, Ryan Kennedy of THN has done all the work for me. It's a great story.

The Fabulous Forum - Three OC High Schools Join Ducks HS Hockey League
It's not gobs of information more than what we reported here a month ago, but for those who missed it, the Ducks' high school hockey league got some additional attention last week.

TSN - Canucks Hire Former Ducks Assistant Coach Newell Brown
A homecoming of sorts for Coach Brown, whom the Canucks picked 158th overall in the 1982 Draft. He will likely retool their power play, and Ducks fans may begin to miss him as Anaheim retools its own without him.

GuelphMercury.com - Storm Loses Out on Palmieri
In-depth coverage of the initial Tweet, y'know, in case you doubted loosepucks.com  And speaking of Palmieri

USA Hockey – World Juniors Blog
Some great recap information here if you're interested-- am I really the only one that reads this stuff religiously --in how Palmieri and some other youngsters are doing at Junior Evaluation Camp. There's even a quick video clip of Palmieri (as well as Connor Brickley and Jerry D'Amigo) discussing how they deal with line shuffling.  Kimelman on NHL.com has a blog as well, but I find the USA Hockey one has better links and information, even if it isn't well-written.

NHL.com - 30 in 30
Brian Hunter profiles the Ducks for next season as a part of NHL.com's 30 in 30 series.

I actually did consider doing the Bruce Lee statue in Hong Kong, but it was barricaded off at the time. Couldn’t really get a good shot.

haha. I’m just a fan, I guess. I do suggest the Great Wall. I was about to tweet you. I don’t know which parts of the Great Wall are near Beijing, though I assume the sexiest.

The Great Wall is almost a sure thing, along with a lot of 2008 Olympic venues.

Not gonna lie, I teared up a little at the end of the video. I remember jumping around and screaming after that hit, and then jumping around and screaming after that goal. It was so amazing.

Same. That’s the only reason why I bought the 2003 Devils championship DVD. It breaks my heart to see them raise the Cup every time, but that moment was just too significant in Ducks history to NOT have a recorded memento of.

Every time

There's nothing to see here. And nothing gazes back at me.

Same here. Still surprises me how emotional I get when I watch that

Same here too. The 2003 Playoffs were just magical.

We need more Boyntons.

I really wish I thought of that idea when I went to Europe…I would have brought my Ducks towel with me and taken a picture with every major site.
