Your Friendly Tuesday Links Roundup: Nate & Pat's Bogus Journey (to Syracuse) Edition

KRISTEN:

Patrick Maroon was called up to fill the roster spot vacated by the Jason Blake injury, and Nate Guenin plugged a hole in our bent and broken defense. But now that Toni Lydman and Kurtis Foster are (presumably) healthy, it seems as though both the winger and the defenseman will return to Syracuse to ply their trade.

  • Here's the OC Register's take on Guenin and Maroon. [OC Register]
  • Kurtis Foster hopes to play in the Ducks' lineup for the first time on Friday, but nothing is set in stone. [OC Register]
  • According to the Toronto Sun, Ducks scouts (along with scouts from 16 other NHL teams) were in attendance at last night's Leafs-Avs game. (This might be a good time to delete Burke's number from Murray's cell). [Toronto Sun]
  • Kris Letang gets a 2 game Shanaban for his hit on Alex Burmistrov during last night's Pens-Jets contest. [Arctic Ice Hockey]
  • The Ducks Blog (the official one) chats with Devante Smith-Pelly. [Anaheim Ducks]
  • SK's tribute to Corey Perry. [Ducks and Pucks]
  • The Islanders are playing well, but no one wants to acknowledge it. Thus, the folks at Lighthouse Hockey attempt to redeem their team through an analysis of the current power rankings. [Lighthouse Hockey]
  • The Ducks are currently auctioning Corey Perry's NHL Premiere gloves, other sweaty knickknacks, and an opportunity to meet the man himself. [Anaheim Ducks]
  • Points-wise, this is the best start that the Ducks have had since That Stanley Cup Season (SK has already noted this). But - did you know that Teemu Selanne is currently tied with Brendan Shanahan for fifth place on the all-time PPG list? Or that DSP is the third-youngest Duck to appear in an NHL contest (behind Oleg Tverdovsky and Cam Fowler)? [Anaheim Ducks]

Dreger has been tweeting that teams are interested in Rene Bourque. I know I’m getting greedy with how many wingers the Ducks have in the system, but does anyone else think he’d be a nice pickup?

I got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell

Really? I’d be surprised if Calgary would give him up. He’s got 4 years left on his deal. He’d be interesting as a replacement for Blake, but I think we’d have to give up a lot to get him.

I hope Murray doesn't make a deal again with Burke.

The Ducks can’t get swindled again. Plus Bobby Ryan better not get traded, I just sent a jersey to get customized with his name and number on it.

I think you’re safe with that jersey purchase. It would be mass mutiny if Bobby were traded. There is zero reason to break up arguably the best line in the NHL

Weber Sbisa, Vish Lyud, Beach Fowler not too bad a reason to trade. But yes i doubt we could pry a top 5 d man away from anyone, so enjoy u’re Ryan jersey.

Any chance we get Weber without losing one of Getzlaf, Selanne, Perry, Ryan, Fowler or Hiller? A collection of picks and prospects would be necessary but i think those picks are going to be useless anyway since they wont help Getzlaf or Perry in their primes win the Stanley Cup right?

I think it is slim to none that they would trade him. He is still a RFA after the season, so they can trade him after the season. They still have time and can be patient, they would only trade him, if it was a deal they couldn’t refuse. We would also need to be sure that Weber would sign a long term deal. He may just want to hit the FA market anyways.

You´re right we would need to check if he would re-sign. But i feel we would have to make a godafther offer for them to say yes, because i think if he hits free agency he signs with Detroit and their jedi mind tricks (and the Lidstrom money)

DSP- I love this kid but i doubt hes in danger of costing us trillions of dollars like Fowler if we make him a UFA at the age of 26. We get 7 years out of him, his physical style would only benefit from being older and thicker. Is this: he needs to develop a professional game and can’t do it with his major jr team or is he really above replacement cost right now so its worth burning a older better cheaper year from him?
