Your Friendly Friday Links Roundup: The Teemu Compares The Ducks To A Beer League Team Edition

KRISTEN:

As Jen mentioned in her Ducks-Rangers gameday post, the normally happy-go-lucky Teemu is deeply dissatisfied with the Ducks' recent skid. He's been even more frank about his dissatisfaction in his native Finnish. Battle of California's Sleza posted a link to Selanne's Finnish blog, in which he jokes that the Ducks are actually a men's beer league team who have dressed in NHL sweaters as an elaborate Halloween prank. Ouch.

ESPN has noted that Jonas Hiller has the worst save percentage of any Pacific Division goalie. That's troubling, but with the exception of a few games, Hiller has played better than that statistic suggests. I think that the true issue lies with Coach Carlyle, and his over-dependence on Bobby Ryan, Corey Perry, and Ryan Getzlaf. You have a bottom 6, Coach, and the Ducks won't improve until the third and fourth lines get regular minutes. There is no reason why Getzlaf should be playing 20+ minutes a night. Let DSP and Andrew Gordon wear down our opponents' offense.

Our upcoming matchup against Detroit should be interesting. Both the Ducks and the Wings are on the skids, and the victory will likely depend on the contributions of each team's role players.

On to the links...

Need Balance?

Just read an article about how ROOKIE Coach Gulutsun is getting so much out of his Dallas roster. It’s a little word we like to call BALANCE! Balanced scoring, balanced ice time. And what else is the article saying? Risk and Reward. It was risky to let Richards go and let Lehtonen have the net and to sign Souray and to hire Gulutsun. But it’s all workign out for them isn’t it?

I don't think it's fair to compare Dallas and Anaheim.

We don’t have the type of personnel to succeed in Gulutzan’s system, mainly due to the fact that we don’t have enough grinders or veterans to fill out the bottom six. They have guys like Ott, Burish, Fiddler, Dvorak and Dowell would can consistently play a checking role for them. Those are the type of guys that can be trusted to take on another team’s top line, thus leading to balance in ice-time.

Oh, and the fact that the Stars are winning because Gulutzan emphasizes tracking, forechecking and backchecking in his system, where as Carlyle let’s the Ducks run around in circles out there.

"That might've been a little push, but that was a major flop. That would make Vlade Divac very proud." - Jerry Reynolds
