Your Friendly Tuesday Links Roundup: The Daniel Wants To Trade Blake for Penner Edition
KRISTEN:
Hey, it might actually work. The Kings have turned him into a punchline.
Also - the Yale University men's hockey team beat Colgate University this past Saturday, 2-0, in Connecticut. This probably doesn't mean anything to y'all in SoCal, but our 2010 5th round pick Chris Wagner was the top center on Colgate's team. He had a tendency to go to the net - which was refreshing - yet he also took a few cheap runs at some of the Yale skaters. But I'll probably remember him most for his shot on goal that hit the crossbar and sailed into the Yale student section. Oh, Chris.

- Who will be the next NHL coach fired? (After the Blue Jackets' Scott Arniel, of course). Puck Daddy seems to think that Randy Carlyle might be on the chopping block. But then they compare him to a 'West Coast Lindy Ruff,' so who really knows? [Puck Daddy]
- Dan Sexton has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week. [Anaheim Ducks]
- Speaking of eye injuries, Chris Pronger could return to the ice tomorrow. [NHL.com]

I'm a little sick of the national hockey media
crapping all over Hiller. He’s had one bad game and he has zero margin for error since this team can’t find the back of the net. He’s about the middle of the league in terms of shots against per game (28.167) but team has scored one goal or less in 7 of his 12 starts. Talk about giving your goalie next to no support.

The media can be stupid.
Especially in the Hiller ESPN article, where they rank Kari Lehtonen as the 12th (!) best goalie in the league. Easily top three this year, but it’s so blatantly obvious that the media rolls with stupid, nonsensical bias (Washington/Pittsburgh is an actual rivalry, Lidstrom deserved a Norris nomination, Lubo didn’t, etc. etc. etc.)
"That might've been a little push, but that was a major flop. That would make Vlade Divac very proud." - Jerry Reynolds
If Mike Green gets a Norris nomination,
then so does Lubo.

And Mike Green doesn't even play defense:)

The year Green got nominated for the Norris, he didn’t just lead defenders in scoring. He set a new record for goals from a defender in consecutive games. That’s different. Plus, he was a much stronger defender that year.
Aside from the offensive results were different, there were just better candidates. I guess you can say he was better than Lidstrom, and that’s fair. But there’s no way he deserved it over Weber and Chara.
Oh - I actually like Mike Green
He could be more responsible defensively, but he is a good hockey player. I still think that the Lubo/Lydman defensive pairing is very underrated, though.

The Washington/Pittsburgh thing may have been a post-lockout marketing tool
But HBO 24/7 was awesome, and Crosby and Ovechkin seem to actually not like each other.
