They were saved by more than a little luck, but a strong second period and a power play goal in the middle of the 3rd by Brandon McMillan were enough for the Ducks to survive a late push and down the Avalanche 3-2 at the Pond.  The win puts the Ducks at 71 points in a race where 72 points crowds the 7 to 10 spots.  The competition gets steeper for the remainder of this homestand, with Detroit and Vancouver coming to town, along with hungry Rangers and Stars squads looking to rebound.  But the trade deadline looms for all.
