Sbisa for 4 more
The Ducks announced today that they have signed Luca Sbisa to a four year extension. Like usual the financial terms of the deal were not yet announced but one of our young D men will be here for four more years. Sbisa was set to be a restricted free agent at the end of this season so Murray avoided any chance that Sbisa be lost do to an offer sheet. The deal runs through the 2014- 15 season

The club made the announcement during Tuesday’s practice at Honda Center. Sbisa will earn $1.2 million in 2011-12, $2 million in 2012-13, $2.6 million in 2013-14 and $2.9 million in 2014-15.
"He was up at the end of the year," General Manager Bob Murray said. "He’s only 21 years old. One of our good young players is tied up for four years, which I think is wonderful."
The new contract for Sbisa will carry a salary-cap hit of $2.175 million beginning next season. He is making $875,000 in the last year of his entry-level deal that was signed in 2008 with Philadelphia and was slated to be a restricted free agent on July 1.

I’m glad they signed him. I really like sbisa. One less thing to worry about in the summer. We pretty much have all our key players signed for next year, except for Selanne but that depends if he is coming back or not.
Selanne will only comeback to play with Kariya. Anaheim fans will have to square with that.

Teemu can still play and play well. I think he could still come back without Kariya being here. Now if Kariya was to come back home that would most likely all but lock up Teemu coming back for another year but without him, I still like our chances of getting the Finnish Flash for one more. If (and thats a big if) the Coyotes do end up moving back to Winnipeg, then the NHL planners better put them on the Ducks schedule. It would be fun to watch Teemu play a few games against his former Jets.

I think that’s wishful thinking. If this team doesn’t get it done this year, I can’t imagine why he’d be interested in coming back. He’s raised the price on us every year since the Cup victory. After this year, the only thing for him to think about will be Jagr. I don’t know if that’s enough to get him to lace them up again. But, playing with his best friend again, might do it. They always wanted a Cup, that’s part of why they went to Colorado in the first place. One last chance with Paul is the type of sentimental situation that could probably lead a guy who’s pretty much done it all to come back for one more go.
I didn’t mean to imply that I think it is a done deal without Kariya but I still like our chances. It really depends on who is next on the all time scoring and how far out that is. What will also matter is how we are set up for a run at the playoffs or cup. Having Kariya back will increase Teemu’s chances of coming back but I don’t think it is mandatory.
