Terrible ticket sales . . .

I am starting to think that this area CANNOT support a hockey team. Take a look at the above ticket sales for the postseason. This is the playoffs and there are still THOUSANDS of tickets available. When we didn't sell out playoff games against San Jose, I blamed the economy, when ticket sales fell this year and last, I blamed it on the economy and the fact that we didn't make the playoffs in 2010. What is the excuse for this steaming pile of shit? I cannot find one. There are 3-4 days (not including today) left before the first game of the playoffs and the clock is ticking to sell well over 3,000 tickets for game 1. Hopefully there is some sort of glitch in the ticketmaster site (last night it didn't look nearly as bad), but if we don't reach at least 16,000 tickets sold (93% capacity) then it will be a major embarrassment (not selling out would be embarrassing as well, but not as bad as having sub-16,000 attendance figures).
My goodness, what does it take to get a sell out? Kings come to town so their fans buy up a bunch of tickets? Second Round? Conference final? Stanley Cup Final?
Ugh. Sorry for the rant, but when I went to the above site(s), it just made me sick to think that the attendance in the playoffs could be as bad as it has been in the regular season.

A lot of people won't buy tickets
until they know what days the games are going to be on. I know that we’re selling off our playoff games based on the days we can go. I’m not surprised more people haven’t bought tickets yet. I’m willing to bet ticket sales will look much better by Tuesday.

Hopefully . . .
I don’t think I can take those f*cking Sharks fans up here in the Bay Area taunting me because the Ducks cannot sell out playoff games. Bastards, the whole lot of them. Haha.

Now that the schedule has been released by the NHL, I think you are going to see tickets start to move. I was waiting on the schedule as well as I wouldn’t have been able to make a Thursday game. There is still alot of time to sell tickets. Now if the numbers are the same on Tuesday night, then get upset.

For those who can go have a great time.
As a working student and living 4 and a half hours away, I cant make it to the game but I plan on trying to watch the game. Go Ducks!!!
yeah, if you can fidn it on TV?!? TSN, what’s up with that? How am I supposed to get that in the US? And why the hell is TSN intersted in a series made up of two small US markets?
Probably because they know it’s going to be a great series. It could also be that Canada appreciates the sport regardless of who’s playing.
And because of Canadian Olympians(Getzlaf, Perry, Weber) as well as Winnipeg’s interest in us(Selanne)

It's going to be on Fox Sports West in socal.
Phil Hulett (the PA announcer at Ponda) blogged about it and was kind enough to even link a cable subscriber specific channel listing.
For anyone who has not had the pleasure of meeting Phil Hulett, he’s radsauce. Awesome guy.

Pass
I want to go, but honestly not interested in spending the cash on a Ducks/Preds playoff game. I’d rather save up money and if they move onto to the next round catcha game against a bigger fish. Vancouver, SJ, Det??
If I had the cash to go to all the playoff games – hell yeah I’d go. But, sadly I don’t.
As for myself
I’d love to go but I have school, a wedding I’m trying to save up for in less than a year as well as other things. That doesn’t mean I won’t make time in front of the tube for this. Been waiting far too long!
I think Andy's in the right for doling out the public shaming.
I don’t think he’s calling out AC readers in particular, but SoCal hockey fans should be ashamed if this isn’t a sellout.

Terrible
The playoffs are extra revenue, so why put the ticket prices so high for the first round. I looked for tickets, but in this economy there is no way I would pay $55 for a nosebleed section seat. Keep first round tickets at regular prices and maybe thay would sell out.
It's rather disappointing seeing the sparsely filled Pond.
But I understand simple economics, and those prices are way past ridiculous.
On another note about tickets/arenas, did anyone catch LA/SJ last night? Did you see how many people were left when they were down 3-0 at the beginning of the 3rd? Pretty poor. One of the fan bases that I respected in terms of filling seats and selling out.

For the record,
the Ducks announced sell-outs for games 1 & 2.
17,174 = 100%.

Is that paid sell-outs?
Or just sell-outs based on tickets bought?
Any idea Andy?

Tickets sold . . .
They don’t announce the actual number of people who were in the building. The only time they announce the actual attendance, is if it is over 17,174 (standing room only crowds).
