Souray...Again.
I know citing Eklund as a source is kind of like citing a Magic 8 ball, but it's the offseason and that's when his blog is, if nothing else, fun. Well, Eklund has decided to mention Anaheim in reference to a possible NHL return of Sheldon Souray. I don't really see how this could work for the Ducks at all. I might call Souray an upgrade to Sutton, but only because Souray still has a great shot from the point. Just the same, it's something to talk about, you know, again.

I saw that as well. I hope we do not grab him. He seemed to be a cancer in the Oilers locker room. Hell if a team is willing to bury him in the AHL just to keep him away, then there must be something wrong with him. We don’t need another retread.
I know there are positives. He’s basically Sutton, but with a better shot. I just can’t wrap my mind around this even being a rumor. I mean it should have never reached the stage where someone was like “yeah, the Ducks are interested in acquiring Souray.”
See, rumors like this get started when everyone insists we need D upgrades.
The only thing I can see, maybe we trade Sutton for Souray and 2 Million cash. I don’t think it is likely though.
I’m pretty sure the collective bargaining agreement doesn’t allow cash or cap space to be part of a trade.
Sutton has a better skating speed and is honestly less of a pylon. Also was he injured for half the season? Or did the AHL team just bench him for half the season?

I rec’d that shit.
I remember that happening but I thought that was when he was playing in the NHL..
Was just curious if his low amount of games played was touched upon…

No. Eklund doesn’t do detail. It’s just something for us to talk about, since the media doesn’t really pay attention to us. There’s not a lot to pay attention to us right now, but this is something I saw to day, so I thought I’d bring it up.
Here’s a link to an article that mentions him getting hurt in a fight. It was at the beginning of this last season.
He was buried in the AHL for cap reasons
Edmonton paid him too much for what he can do on the ice and moving a player to another league saves cap space. From everything I’ve read he was real a real professional about having to play in the AHL. What worries me is that even playing in the AHL he didn’t really do much on the ice.
