Your Friendly Tuesday Links Roundup: The Farewell, Nicolas, We Hardly Knew Ye Edition

The Winter Classic was held yesterday at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, and the home team lost. Even though all staff members are contractually obligated to dislike all things non-Duck related, I have a soft spot for Claude Giroux and the Flyers (and was sad to see them lose). Could you imagine Giroux centering DSP and Corey Perry? Holy moly.

(And a sidebar: All of the hockey fans complaining about Melanie Fiona/Patti LaBelle's respective anthem renditions - please calm down. They were perfectly fine performances.)

But this is AC, and this Link Roundup is a space to talk about the Ducks. And much to our collective chagrin, GM Bob Murray is trading with Maple Leafs GM Brian Burke. Today, Syracuse Crunch forward Nicolas Deschamps was traded for Marlies forward Luca Caputi. This isn't a big deal, but I feel like there could be bigger (and scarier) trades on the horizon. Didn't someone make a joke about Getzlaf + Hiller for Mike Komisarek and Nazem Kadri?

On to the links.

Russia just beat Canada

So it’s Russia vs Sweden for all the World Junior marbles. Finland vs Canada for the bronze. Ducks prospect (and Team Sweden member) Max Friberg has 8 points and is +3 (he’s also amassed 22 penalty minutes, which is interesting).

Not really. IF there was fighting in this tournament, it would be interesting, but if he’s just racking up minors, I doubt that’s a good thing.

I haven’t watched any of Team Sweden’s games, so I can’t really say how he got those penalty minutes. I thought it was interesting because he’s one of the tournament’s leading scorers, and has twice as many penalty minutes as any of the tournament’s other leading scorers. There’s a story behind that. Who knows? He could be our bottom 6 power forward of the future.

If I remember correctly, Sweden came from behind in 4 games to win and Friberg has the tying goal in all 4 games.

Ok, I just checked that data, and the dude on the TV was wrong. They came from behind in 2 games, but Friberg did have the tying goal in both thos games.
