Ron Wilson OUT in Toronto, Randy Carlyle IN

We all knew it wouldn't take long for Randy Carlyle to find a job again. Today Ron Wilson was relieved of his duties in as head coach of the struggling Maple Leafs in favor for the no nonsense Carlyle. This move reunites the Stanley Cup champion duo of Brian Burke and Carlyle. By hiring Carlyle, the Ducks are no longer on the hook for the rest of his contract plus that of Bruce Boudreau's. Maybe that extra money will get us a few free agents in the off-season...a girl can dream.

One fun note going into this change is the dynamic of Carlyle and Joffrey Lupul. Lupul had some very harsh comments about Carlyle and his handling of Lupul when returning from injury. (SK wrote it about it when we were all petitioning for Carlyle's firing.) Randy isn't exactly the rainbows and gumdrops kind of coach that would want to have a heart-to-heart with Lupul, but I'm sure they'll talk. Orrr, Carlyle will just have Burke trade him (in the off season) - again.

Should be fun to see what happens in Toronto. Carlyle had it easy with the Southern California media. Toronto, as I witnessed a week ago, is a whole other kind of monster. Anyway, vacation is over Leafs. New sheriff in town and he's gonna beat you into submission.
