So why is Smith-Pelly playing? He brings nothing to the team. Piss poor defense, no puck possession game in the offensive zone, can't win battles along the boards, and he's not even hitting like he's supposed to. He's been one of the most useless players out there. Much rather see a guy like Rakell who will actually make smart plays with the puck. Devo just coughed one up to a guy right in the slot. Inexcusable play. He's looked unmotivated in Norfolk all season long. It's time for a wake-up call for him. Even Staubitz would bring more to the table than Smith-pelly. I just don't understand why Devo keeeps being given a spot on the team. What exactly has he earned? He's been terrible in his first three games this year...He isn't even making the safe plays. I know it sounds like I'm hating on the guy, but I'm not. It's just reality, he's not an NHL caliber player right now.
