GameThread: Where I Come from This is an Oldie

WEIRD! - USA TODAY Sports

If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88 miles per hour, you're going to see some serious sh*t.

Before we get started, we have an embarrassing confession to make. Kings blogger, The Royal Half way out did us on the Throwback coverage with this incredible collection of videos and images from the inaugural game at the Pond way back on Oct. 8, 1993. Even if it was compiled in the spirit of schadenfreude, it's still pretty awesome. On to the Stats...

Numbers for Nerds

Amount of power it takes to get those jerseys from 1993: 1.21 GIGAWATTS?! (X2 for the round trip)

Team Records: Ducks 3-1-0, Senators 1-1-2, Ducks 2011-12 Record vs Ottawa 1-0-0 (A 2-1 win by the Ducks in January 2012)

Team Leaders: Ducks – Jakob Silfverberg & Mathieu Perreault tie for the team lead with 5 points while Silfverberg leads with 4 goals, with Bobby Ryan in the building, it would be a good time to keep up that 82 goal pace. Cam Fowler has overtaken Francois Beauchemin for the TOI/G lead with 22:49 to Beauch's 21:12, but is still the only active player on the roster in the negative on plus-minus.

Sens – Our old pal Bobby Ryan has 4 points and 2 goals to lead the team in both categories. I guess that trade is working out for everybody so far. As expected Erik Karlsson is logging HEAVY minutes on the blueline for Ottawa with 27:25 TOI/G

Goalies: Ducks – Jonas Hiller 2-0-0 record with 1.44 GAA, .955 Sv%, one shutout and this sweet throwback mask, Viktor Fasth 1-1-0 record with 4.00 GAA, .826 Sv% and a Guy Hebert replica mask

Sens – US Olympic backup hopeful Craig Anderson figures to start for the Sens with a 1-0-2 record, 2.59 GAA and 9.27 Sv%. Robin Lehner saw his first action of the season last night in San Jose and earned the following stats: 0-1-0, 3.10 GAA, .940 Sv% (that's 47 saves on 50 shots faced, in one game. Great Scott! Watch out for those Sharkies)

Power Play: Ducks – Hard to believe that any of the Ducks' numbers got worse after that game versus the Rangers but 0-for-6 on the PP will do that. They're now in the single digits with a power play percentage of only 6.7 (30th, obviously). Nick Bonino STILL has the only PP goal on the season.

Sens – A respectable, if unspectacular 18.2 PP% (20th), Guess which former Mighty Ducks second overall pick, who never got the PP time that he wanted, has both power play goals for Ottawa on the season (Hint: It's not Paul Kariya)

Penalty Kill: Ducks – 61.5%, Also last in the league. Is this some kind of evil scheme to prove to people that they're good 5-on-5 or what?

Sens – 76.2 PK% (19th) doesn't sound very good unless you consider the Ducks' PK efficiency.
