Patrick Maroon - John Wright
The Admirals almost squandered a three goal lead in the third period, but hung on to beat the Hershey Bears 4-3 in the shootout.
Final Score: Admirals 4, Hershey 3 (SO)
First Period Recap: The Admirals started the Sunday afternoon game by getting out shot by the Hershey Bears 12-7. The Bears had two power play chances but could not convert. Norfolk managed to take the lead off of a Patrick Maroon goal with Sami Vatanen and Jordan Hendry getting the assists. It was Maroon's 13th goal of the season tying him with Kyle Palmieri for second on the team.
Second Period Recap: Peter Holland scored 8:32 into the middle period for his 16th goal of the season. Luca Caputi and Rod Pelley assisted. Dan Sexton added on to the lead with his third of the season with a helper from Maroon. The Ads' only two power play chances of the game came in the second, but they were unable to capitalize, continuing the slight struggle they are having with the man advantage. Shots on goal in the period: Norfolk 9, Hershey 8.
Third Period Recap: The final frame was a huge struggle for the Admirals. They let the Bears score three goals on only 11 shots. Barry Almeida scored his sixth of the season 1:42 into the period and Ryan Potulny scored his sixth just past the halfway mark of the period and added his seventh goal of the season with just thirty five seconds left in the game. The Admirals did nothing in the overtime period so the game went to the shootout.
The Good: The Admirals won a divisional game and took two games out of a three day series.
The Bad: Our power play is still struggling.
The Ugly: The team gave up three goals in the final period of play. It is going to be hard to improve in the standings this way.
