With a win tonight, the Ducks will sweep the 2013 series against Nashville.
After Monday's disappointing experience at Staples Center (aren't all experiences at Staples Center a little disappointing, though?), the Ducks are looking to get back to their winning ways at the Honda Center. I believe that Nashville is our next great rival, and at the risk of incurring a serious magumbo violation, I'd like to see us win in regulation.
Why? The Ducks have the opportunity to sweep their 2013 series with Nashville tonight. After squeaking out two shootout wins against the Preds, a regulation win would be satisfying. It's not the same as winning a playoff series, but it would be a fitting close to another compelling chapter in the Ducks-Preds rivalry.
But how do the Ducks win? By stopping the usual suspects: Shea Weber and Mike Fisher (who scored his 200th career goal against Dallas on Monday). But sophomore defenseman Roman Josi is also heating up, scoring 2 goals and 2 assists in the same game against Dallas. Colin Wilson also has 14 points in 13 games.
I'm a little afraid that the Predators are going to outshoot us by a significant margin. If we come out flatfooted, Nashville will look like the Bruce Boudreau-era Washington Capitals. Let's make sure that doesn't happen. Luckily, their road record is bad, and their power play is abysmal. Let's do this.
