The Norfolk Admirals win their eighth straight game in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Final Score: Admirals 2, Penguins 1
First Period Recap: Norfolk started the game off right, getting 15 shots on goal, more than they had in the entire game last time these two teams met. Unfortunately, Penguins goalie Jeff Zatkoff was able to stop all 15. The Penguins had two power play chances but the Ads killed them easily. Norfolk had three chances with the extra man, one carried over to the second, but had no luck. Unlike most games between these two teams there were no opening period fights.
Second Period Recap: The two teams combined for 21 shots, ten for the Ads, and both teams had two power play chances. Another common factor were the goals, both scored on the power play. Tom Kostopoulos scored for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for his second goal of the season. Brandon McMillan tied the game up on his fifth of the season with only 51 seconds left in the period. Sami Vatanen and Devante Smith-Pelly got the assists.
Third Period Recap: The Ads came up short on their two power play chances in the third, but Josh Brittain scored his seventh goal of the season from Dan Sexton and Ryan Parent for the game winner. The Ads successfully killed off three penalties in the final 20 minutes and Andersen stopped 26 of the 27 shots he saw all night.
The Good: The Admirals are five points out of the playoffs.
The Bad (for the Penguins): The Penguins have an eight game home losing streak to the Admirals, it used to be impossible for Norfolk to win there.
The Ugly: Nothing tonight :)
