Admirals Lose Again, Effort Continues To Be Lacking

Since rejoining Norfolk, Peter Holland has two goals in two games. - Jeff Gross

The Norfolk Admirals begin their fifth losing streak of the season with yet another lackluster performance.

Final Score: Admirals 1, Bridgeport 4

First Period Recap: The first 20 minutes of the game started off slow with the teams combining for 13 shots, 22 penalty minutes and only one goal scored. Peter Holland scored his 14th of the year 14:18 into the period on the power play to give the Admirals their only lead of the night. A fight between Jay Rosehill and Blair Riley accounted for 10 of the 22 penalty minutes.

Second Period Recap: Just 37 seconds into the middle frame, Bridgeport's Brock Nelson scored on a power play carried over from the first period. Shortly after, Ryan Parent went to box for delay of game and Norfolk managed to kill the penalty. The Ads did not score on three power play attempts. The teams combined for 19 shots.

Third Period Recap: In the final third of the game, the Admirals gave up three unanswered goals; starting off with Nelson's second power play goal of the game. This was followed by Nino Niederreiter scoring his 20th goal of the season almost halfway through the period. Nelson finished off his hat trick with an empty-netter less than a minute remaining in the game.

Norfolk was out-shot a ridiculous 18-10 in the period, a terrible way to try and come back. The Ads took three penalties and killed two of them and they couldn't convert on two man advantage.

3rd Icehole: Jordan Hendry - finished a minus-2 and took a minor penalty.

2nd Icehole: Patrick Maroon - a minus-1 performance with only 1 SOG and a minor penalty. He seems really streaky.

1st Icehole: The Norfolk Admirals- These guys are professional hockey players and they have talent. I have no idea how they keep rattling off losses with overall poor efforts and nothing changes.

Next Game: Friday, Feb. 8 at 7:30pm ET vs. Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins at home.
