Before I start: I am all for keeping Perry even if he signs elsewhere after the season. He would be an important piece in any potential cup run.

But I recently read this idea:

Perry for Iginla and a conditional 1st rounder. Condition is that Perry signs with calgary, otherwise it becomes a 2nd rounder.

I actually think that is not so bad. Even a CGY 2nd rounder would be like a late 1st rounder and if he should sign (remote, I know) it would be a lottery pick.

Not sure if this would be something CGY would do or we should do, but at least I think it would not be horrible.
