New #NHLDucks signee Radek Dvorak has cleared waivers. He arrived in Orange County late last night and could be on the ice this morning.— Anaheim Ducks (@AnaheimDucks) March 25, 2013
Dvorak will currently be non-roster status as he still needs to go through the immigration process.— Anaheim Ducks (@AnaheimDucks) March 25, 2013
In a 'huh?' move, the Anaheim Ducks have signed forward Radek Dvorak to a contract for the remainder of the rest of the season.
ANA signs UFA Radek Dvorak, who had been playing in Davos, to contract for balance of NHL season. 1 yr, AAV of $675. Now must clear waivers.— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) March 24, 2013
As McKenzie reported, Dvorak, 36, has been playing for Davos of the Swiss National League A. In seven regular season games, Dvorak had 3 G, 4 A, 2 PIMs and was a plus-seven. In six playoff games, he scored 1 G, 1 A, 2 PIM's and a minus-2.

Dvorak will not be in the lineup tonight against the Red Wings. He will need to pass through waivers before he can join the team. Prior to going to Davos, Dvorak had played for seven different NHL teams since the 1995-1996 season. His most recent NHL assignment was with the Dallas Stars during the 2011-2012 season. In 72 GP, he earned 4 G, 17 A, 12 PIM's and a minus-17.
I have no idea why they signed him. Perhaps they want someone stronger than Brad
Starburns Staubitz on the fourth line to work with the Ducklings? He's going through waivers, so I do not believe he was signed specifically to help Norfolk. I hope there is nothing else going on we don't know about. Someone will have to be traded at the NHL level or sent to Norfolk to make room for Dvorak on the Ducks roster.
