Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf signed an eight year contract extension to stay with Anaheim until 2020-2021

It's finally official folks, Ryan Getzlaf will remain an Anaheim Duck until the 2020-2021 season. (We should have flying cars by then.)

The captain signed a maximum contract extension as allowed under the new Collective Bargaining Agreement. Because the Ducks were the team who drafted Getzy, he was allowed a maximum eight year deal, instead of seven offered by another team.

As for the dough, here's Bob McKenzie from TSN:

In total, Getz will receive $66 million. Not bad considering the only other players to make an AAV over $8M go by the names of Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin, Evgeni Malkin and Eric Staal.

After having his career worst year, the 27 year old center has made a complete 180 degree change to start this season. He leads the team in goals with 9, 18 assists, 27 points. He is plus-10 and carries only 12 penalty minutes.

We'll post more info as we get it; however, can't say this is exactly surprising. Getz has said he wants to stay in Anaheim for a while now.
