Wysh and the gang at Yahoo!'s Puck Daddy preview the Ducks season. The season may or may not start on time. It's best to be prepared, right? Take a read. Discuss.
Check out The Goalie Guild's post on Jonas Hiller's new mask. (Working on photo permission to post here). I like it because it has so much stuff on it, it'll distract the other team!
Lubomir Visnovsky's arbitration hearing is today. I would be very surprised if the trade was voided by the arbiter and he becomes a Duck again. Sean Leahy at Puck Daddy breaks it all down.
For those wondering what kind of commitment Peter Holland has coming into next season... I'll remind those that don't know that this is his second offseason training with Roberts...
The news has been out there for a while. Ducks GM Bob Murray is not on the hook for damages in a 2009 bar-stool incident. To me, the plaintiff was toast when Murray's lawyer showed video of her doing everyday activities that involved the body parts she's claimed were injured.
Transcript from the live chat with Sheldon Souray ealier today (8/8/12). Its nice to get to get to know a little bit about Souray, and from this live chat it seems as though he will be a great, veteran leader for the Ducks in the next few seasons.
G John Gibson, D Andy Welinski D Brian Cooper and F Nic Kerdiles all are "trying out" for the team as you read. Camp runs from August 4-11. The WJC is at the end of December, beginning of January... Interesting note: From the Swedish team, Both Hampus Lindholm and William Karlsson are play, but Rickard Rakell is not... I guess he is "too old" even though he is not... I suspect that Max Friberg was not included either because he will be 20 by the time the tourney rolls around...
Slow news month. Hang in there. Jared from Ducks Daily Blog responds to Daniel's response to Jared's article 'In Defense of Bob Murray'.
Back in May, Ryan Getzlaf was captaining Team Canada at the World Championships in Finland and Sweden. In what would be Canada's final game, Getzy was called for kneeing a Team Slovakia player with 2:30ish left in regulation, and he received a controversial 5-minute major. Slovakia would go on and win the game on the power play. I have no idea what took the IIHF so long to hand down a one-game ban for Getzlaf. Perhaps they wanted to be really, really, really sure of their decision. This suspension won't impact his NHL playing time. It's for international games only.
