Open Gameday Recap Thread Ducks @ Blackhawks

DANIEL:

Jonas Hiller was phenomenal in a 42 save performance and he kept the Ducks winning streak alive.  His glove hand was extraordinarily active and there's no doubt some Hawks players will be seeing it in their nightmares tonight.  Hiller also all but sealed Giguere's fate as he won for the first time in back-to-back games.  One of the last remaining tests for Hiller to prove he could be the #1 guy was to turn in strong performances in back-to-back situation.  Tonight, he finally looked like he could shoulder that burden.

Saku Koivu continues to be one of the Ducks' best players. He added a goal and an assist to his points total tonight, was a steadying force on the PK, and is probably the best clutch face-off man we have.  Teemu Selanne added an empty net goal to notch his second goal in his second game back from a broken hand.  The Ducks are slowly but surely picking up points to keep their playoff dream alive.  Whether or not the teams above them will oblige their efforts remains to be seen.
