***Sutton Projected Out for 6-8 Weeks***

THE TELETYPE:
The Anaheim Ducks announced today that Andy Sutton will be out for 6 to 8 weeks after surgery this morning at Kerlan Jobe Surgery Center in Los Angeles to repair the defenseman's right thumb, which was fractured in an altercation with former Ducks defenseman Ruslan Salei at the teams' season opener in Detroit last week.

Anaheim has recently called up defenseman Brett Festerling and signed free agent defenseman Andreas Lilja to address the loss of Sutton and the continued absence of fellow offseason acquisition Toni Lydman.

Sutton has a rather long injury history, much of it due to the fact that he is a dedicated shot blocker, and he has thus rarely played more than 70 games in his 11 year NHL career.  The Ducks' current timetable would have the blueliner out for at least the next 20 contests on the team's schedule.
