ARTHUR:
Anaheim dropped to 1-4 in a shootout loss to the Atlanta Thrashers tonight. The Ducks had a two goal lead in the third on the strength of three power play scores and a goal by Toni Lydman in his first game (and first five shots) as a Duck. But Anthony Stewart would complete a hat trick with two late power play goals to force overtime.
The second goal may have been hit with a high stick by Tobias Enstrom Rich Peverley on the way to Stewart's waiting stick blade at the goal mouth. From the video review, it's not clear that the puck hit either stick, though the final verdict appeared to be that the puck was either hit with Enstrom's Peverley's high stick (not reviewable) or narrowly missed Enstrom's Peverley's high stick, but was ultimately knocked into the net by Stewart's legally positioned stick.
Nigel Dawes would beat Jonas Hiller on the only shootout goal of the tiebreaking session completing the Thrashers' comeback win.
