ARTHUR:
Anaheim lost a heartbreaker in Detroit tonight 4-5 after holding a two goal lead and what appeared to be the final go-ahead goal on a brilliant partial breakaway by Teemu Selanne. The Red Wings would tie the score halfway through the third before netting the gamewinner with less than 12 seconds to play as a tired Ducks crew scrambled in its own end, managing only a partial change when Jason Blake failed to move the puck out of the zone after regaining possession.
Cam Fowler missed another game, and Dan Sexton missed most of the game after taking a puck to the face in the first period. Carlyle was forced to shuffle up his lineup at that point, but that didn't produce a horribly different result as Anaheim let its customary 41 shots through on goaltender McElhinney.
