THE TELETYPE:
The Ducks announced today that Dan Sexton will have surgery to fix the broken nose he suffered against Detroit on Saturday and will be out for two weeks. According to Coach Carlyle, Sexton had multiple fractures in his nose that required a surgical procedure.
The Ducks forward took a puck in the face while attempting to block a point shot from former Anaheim defenseman Ruslan Salei (who coincidentally broke Andy Sutton's thumb in a scrap to open the season). Sexton had no points in 7 games this season, but posted 13 shots and was looking good both on a second line with Koivu and Selanne and a third line with Bobby Ryan and Ryan Carter.
