ARTHUR:
If it's possible to enjoy a loss, I enjoyed last night's loss. It had its obvious ugly moments: most any time the Ducks were on the power play, taking hits and not giving much back, then the entire second line breaking with discipline after the Stars reclaimed the lead.
Still, it was a game the Ducks could have won on effort. They were forcing penalties. They were actually trying to win the game. It wasn't the loss we've grown so accustomed to this season, the DEDICATION FAIL. And, in that, it was much more encouraging than their recent winning streak. It was a display of skill from a team that was getting by on luck.
I don't know if it will carry into tonight, but if it does, then regardless of whether they win or lose, this team will return home playing well and faced with the opportunity to feel good about themselves with what is essentially a nine game homestand interrupted by trips to Phoenix, Vancouver and Edmonton.
FOWL!
