Two points out of a playoff spot. But you'd never know it. Everyone's eyes are firmly transfixed on Getzlaf's ankle, which may break Avatar's box office records this weekend in Canada. According to Eric Stephens of The Register, the center is taking extra good care of the injured joint and Carlyle expects to play him one day this weekend, perhaps to the dismay of his countrymen.
Also according to The Register, there were some interesting shakeups in yesterday's rushes.
Matt Beleskey-Ryan Getzlaf/Saku Koivu-Corey Perry
Bobby Ryan-Petteri Nokelainen-Teemu Selanne
Todd Marchant-Kyle Chipchura-Troy Bodie
Jason Blake-Ryan Carter-Evgeny Arthukhin-Mike Brown-George Parros
Scott Niedermayer-James Wisniewski
Ryan Whitney-Steve Eminger
Brett Festerling-Sheldon Brookbank
Carter was shipped back down to the 4th line (perhaps as retribution for that ill-advised pass in the OIlers game), and Nokelainen was rewarded for some good work off the scratch as the new center on the second line. Jason Blake, meanwhile, did not practice above the fourth line.
Tonight is a pivotal game, making the matchups that much more important. Yes, the Ducks are two points out of a playoff spot, but they are also facing the very team that currently holds that playoff spot. The Flames have lost two in a row, but it's unlikely they'll roll over to trade places with Anaheim in the standings.
There is a CBC broadcast for tonight's game, meaning there should be a stream. Center Ice says they will have both games this weekend, and I will be hoping the same holds true for Gamecenter LIVE.
Post any game info and lineup changes in the comments!
