DANIEL:
It wasn't embarrassing, but it was most assuredly demoralizing. The Ducks fell 1-0 to the Nashville Predators, a team they were chasing in the standings. Anaheim now finds itself 9 points out of the playoffs with only 15 games left to play. They have earned one point in their last 5 games. Have scored in only 2 of their last 12 periods played, as well as scoreless in an overtime period in that span. It's hard to identify what's been wrong. The Ducks played a pretty solid game, but just couldn't get a bounce to go their way. The refs only wanted to call penalties for a small segment at the end of the first period. The Ducks surrendered a goal on a 5-on-3 disadvantage, and that was all the goal scoring the Preds would need.
Jonas Hiller was phenomenal tonight. He gave the Ducks every opportunity to win. However, Anaheim's offense has simply evaporated. It's not over yet, but the Ducks will need a lot of help to get back in the playoff picture. Right now it looks like there are simply too many teams ahead of them for the Ducks to make a serious run.
