THE TELETYPE:
Yesterday, the Ducks acquired a 6th Round pick in next month's Draft from Pittsburgh (though the pick originates from Montreal*) for goaltender Mattias Modig. The netminder dropped off some Top Prospects Lists this season after losing the starting job for Lulea, but he finished the season strong. In fact, Kyle Kujawa of Hockey's Future noted there were rumors the Ducks were going to try to lure him to the States. And according to OC Register beat writer Eric Stephens, the team was forced to trade him after unsuccessful attempts to sign him. He has agreed to a two year deal with Pittsburgh since.
The Ducks also announced that they have signed left wing Brandon McMillan to a three-year entry level contract. According to J.P. Hoornstra, his NHL salary will be 575K for the first year, 575K for the second year and 645K in the third. Originally drafted as a Swiss-Army knife player with noteworthy speed, McMillan is coming off a solid performance in the World Juniors on a dominant line, where he proved what he could do under the right circumstances.
