JEN:
New city. Clean faces. New month. Clean slate.
October is done and the Ducks need not look back. Sure they got off to a great start, but that was weeks ago. To many Ducks fans, our season actually starts right now. The Ducks are at a .500 record (5-5-1) looking up at a Pacific Division that is separated top to bottom by 5 points.
Kick starting the season isn't going to be easy though because this season-reinvention starts with the Washington Capitals. The Caps have a 7-2-0 and, by the way, have yet to be beat at home. They have a couple guys, Alexander Ovechkin and Alexander Semin (never heard of 'em) that I'm told are pretty good.Yet, they're not the ones we should be as wary of. Niklas Backstrom leads the team with 12 points. 2 goals, but 10 assists. Needless to say, take him out and some of the offense goes too.
Do not be deterred Ducks fans. If the team is trying to jump start their offense, this just might be the team to do it a against. Who doesn't remember the 7-6 battle at Honda Center last season? The Capitals have a penalty kill that is clicking only 77% of the time (ours is 85%). Another perfect moment for our power play to get their groove back.
One last thing to be positive about - WE have the real Great 8.
GO Ducks (especially those who want to contribute to Movember! More on that later.)
