The Flames responded, but so did the Ducks, but so did the Flames, and then a Teemu Selanne power play goal sent it to overtime, where Cam Fowler sealed a victory for Anaheim 5-4 at the Pengrowth Saddledome.
Saku Koivu opened scoring, but the Flames answered with two quick goals. The Ducks answered with two goals of their own, another tally by Koivu and a shorthanded goal by Brandon McMillan. But the Flames came on yet again in the third with two scores by Iginla and former Duck property Curtis Glencross. An Anaheim power play with little more than two minutes to go in the game would produce a Selanne goal on the doorstep on a feed from Getzlaf, and the teams resigned themselves to the extra session.
In overtime, Cam Fowler had a rush on net early but couldn't finish with the backhand. A few shifts later, he found himself trailing a rush by Selanne and Koivu and took the feed from the latter to take another backhand try, this one completely fooling the Flames netminder.
