ARTHUR:
Lubomir Visnovsky is a frosty frosty beast. --Hey, show some respect.
Sorry. Ľubomír Višňovský is a frosty frosty beast. They should install animatronic Visnovsky's in the Matterhorn. But, y'know, with that trademarked lovable Lubo gibberish instead of the roar. "Row-AR!"
So, where is the Norris Talk for Visnovsky? Exactly, Pierre LeBrun, where is it? Ignoring the fact that LeBrun chose Carlyle and Lupul as his quote sources, thus reinforcing the East Coast bias stereotype by not even querying two current Western Conference voices, isn't Lubo one of the three best defensemen in the league?
Points- 2nd
Assists- 3rd
Goals - 3rd
Corsi Rel - 2nd
TOI/60 - 7th
CorsiRelQoc - 9th (min 60 games played)
Those numbers aren't bad for a guy who's taken 380 faceoffs in his defensive zone this season.
In terms of defeating East Coast bias, it's encouraging that two of last year's finalists were Western Conference defensemen, neither named Lidstrom, one even in the Pacific Time Zone. And, of last year's finalists, a repeat seems unlikely with an off season for two of them and an injury shutting down key tour dates on Mike Green's Susan Lucci campaign. Of course, one should never underestimate the writers' affinity for the smooth skate stylings of Nicklas Lidstrom, and since when should any of us be confident that ONE writer east of the Mississippi, much less all of them, has seen a Ducks game this season?
