I’m particularly excited about this evening’s match-up between the Ducks and Kings. Aside from the fact that I’ll be at the game with a great bunch of friends…I just love the last pre-season home game of the year. Three reasons: 1) it means the regular season is about to kick off, 2) there are just enough NHLers in the game to make it interesting and 3) nothing about it means a damn thing so it’s completely stress free! WOOHOO!
I will admit I didn’t watch any of the last game between the Ducks and Kings that was streaming online because I was more interested in watching Bridesmaids for the 10th time ("Look! I’m completely topless!"). Such a great movie. That being said, I can’t comment too much on how awesome the Ducks looked and how terrible the Kings played. So you’ll have to take Jens word on it.
However, it seems that in the last 24 hours the Kings have gone and made a stupid move by signing some young defenseman to an 8 year, $7million dollar contract extension. I have no idea what they were thinking. Clearly they’re a bunch of idiots.
I have yet to see anything around the web indicating that Drew Doughty will be playing tonight, so if you’ve seen something, leave us a link in the comments.
A few of Anaheim’s bubble players such as Andrew Gordon and Devante Smith-Pelly have one final chance to put the stamp on their audition before everything becomes final, so I’m expecting them to have an all out type of performance.
Most likely, tonight’s matchup will give us a solid idea of what the regular season lineup will look like come October 7th. Of course we already know what the first line will look like and there was a small experiment with Brandon McMillan on the second line during Wednesday’s game against Vancouver. It wasn’t an overwhelmingly positive experiment, but it wasn’t awful either. Needless to say, it’s the bottom 6 that we’re still keeping a close eye on, and there are plenty of options for Carlyle at this point.
Ultimately, the most exciting thing about tonight is that it means regular season hockey is just one week away! Yea baby!
GO DUCKS!!!
