This Week In Ducks History: Kariya First Duck To 600 Points, Selanne's 560th Goal

This Week in Anaheim Ducks History (Oct. 28 to Nov. 3)

Oct. 28, 1979
D Martin Skoula born in Litomerice, Czechoslovakia (Czech Republic)

Oct. 29, 1999

Oct. 29, 1995
Set franchise record for most goals in a period with five in the first (Shaun Van Allen, Paul Kariya [2], Peter Douris [2]) in a 7-2 win over Calgary. The feat was matched Jan. 23, 2004 vs Minnesota (third period).

Oct. 29, 2008
Ryan Getzlaf's fifth assist of the game on the overtime goal against Detroit (5-4) ties the franchise record for most assists in a game and Teemu Selanne ties a franchise record for most power play goals in a game with three.

Oct. 30, 1995
Acquired D Bobby Marshall from the Calgary Flames in exchange for C Jarrod Skalde.

Oct. 30, 1996
The dreaded month of October 1996 came to a close with a 6-3 loss to Vancouver. This was the final loss in the franchise record eight game losing streak (started 10/12) and nine game winless streak (started 10/10) as well as the most consecutive games allowing a power play goal (12, started 10/5 69 for 89, 77.5% on the PK over that span) A 4-3 win over the Sharks on November 1 including a hat trick by Teemu and two assists by Paul Kariya (his second game of the season) ended all of those dubious streaks. For reference, in last year's infamously terrible month of November the Ducks gained only one more point in the standings than the October '96 team and had a losing streak of seven games, pretty close, but their longest streak of PP goals against was only six games, for the entire 20111-12 season.

Oct. 30, 2009
Set franchise record for most consecutive unanswered goals scored in a game as the Ducks beat Vancouver 7-2.

Oct. 31, 1983
D Steve Eminger born in Woodbridge, Ontario, Canada.

Nov. 1, 2001
Acquired RW Patric Kjellberg from the Nashville Predators in exchange for RW Petr Tenkrat. Also acquired RW Sergei Krivokrasov from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for a seventh round draft pick in 2002 and future considerations.

Nov. 2, 1974

Nov. 3, 1967

LW Jim McKenzie born in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada

Nov. 3, 2002
Paul Kariya becomes the first Duck to score 600 points with an assist in a 4-3 loss to Teemu Selanne's San Jose Sharks

Nov. 3, 2007
Matched a franchise record (set in 1999) in a 5-2 win over Phoenix with four players recording three or more points in a single game; Getzlaf, Corey Perry, Chris Pronger and Mathieu Schneider all put up three points.

Ducks related #RandomNHLfact from @NHLhistoryGirl:

During his days playing for the #Caps, (Ducks goalie coach) Pete Peeters' mask didn't have a chin cup.

Brian Hayward began a goalie mask replication company after retirement because the league was getting collectibles revenue, not players

On this date (10/31) in 2008, #NHLDucks Teemu Selanne scored his 560th career goal, tying Guy Lafleur on the all-time goals list.

On this date in 1993, #NHLDucks Anatoli Semenov began a 9 game point-scoring streak, and setting team record. (Current record 19 games held by Corey Perry, set in 2009)

Scott Stevens, Ken Daneyko, Scott Niedermayer & Martin Brodeur all referred to themselves as #NJDevil "lifers." #RandomNHLfact (not unexpected, and probably valid, but it still makes me sad)

"Having those two mutants draped over you all game is pretty tiring." - Chris Pronger on playing against John LeClair and Eric Lindros

"Maybe we'll have to go out and have some Finlandia vodka and get it all out in the open." - Pronger on being teammates with rival Selanne
