I call it bizzaro because it seems like the opposite of everything I thought would happen, has happened (ex. LA Kings and Vancouver). No, I don't believe it's my poor ability to pick winners. There must be something wrong in the universe.
GAME 1: Washington Capitals at Boston Bruins, 12:00PM on CBC, NBC, RDS. SBN Blogs: Japers' Rink & Stanley Cup of Chowder
Series Record & Storyline: The B's 1 - Caps 0. While celebrating the Bruins' overtime victory, a pane of glass from the boards dropped on David Krejci. The Bruins say that his neck is sore, but should be in the game on Saturday. Also, watch how The B's manhandle Alex Ovechkin. Ovie had some good shots, but he also got destroyed - several times - when the Bruins took the body.
GAME 2: Ottawa Senators at New York Rangers, 4:00PM on CBC, NBCSN, RDS, MSG (HD). SBN Blogs: Blueshirt Banter & Silver Seven
Series Record & Storyline: Blueshirts 1 - '07 SCF Losers 0. The Rangers owned Ottawa in the first game. I expect nothing different. And because I just said that, the Sens will win 10 - 1.
GAME 3: San Jose Sharks at St. Louis Blues, 4:30PM on TSN, CNBC, RDSI, CSN-CA (HD), FS-MW (HD). SBN Blogs: Battle of California, Fear the Fin & St. Louis Game Time
Series Record & Storyline: Fishies 1 - Andy Mac's Team 0. The Sharks netted the game winner in the first double-overtime game of the playoffs. San Jose is so up and down, but they seem to keep up with St. Louis. Ken Hitchcock is a tough coach and I don't expect to see the same mistakes made in Game 1.
GAME 4: Chicago Blackhawks at Phoenix Coyotes, 7:00PM on TSN, NBCSN, RDS, CSN-CH (HD). SBN Blogs: Second City Hockey & Five For Howling
Series Record & Storyline: Quebec 1 - 'Hawks 0. The Coyotes continue to be a surprise. I thought Chicago would wipe the floor with them, especially after Phoenix lost their leading scorer, Radim Vrbata, to an undisclosed injury, natch. Leave to the guy who has his own built-in catch phrase, Martin Hanzal (he's so hot right now), to score the game winner in OT. Bizzaro playoffs, indeed.
