Mildly Hungry Games Playoff Thread: FLA/NJD, BOS/WSH, PHX/CHI& STL/SJS

I saw 'The Hunger Games' today. The book is better.

No teams can win the first round of Hunger Games today; however, they can get one step closer to eliminating their opponent tonight with a win.

GAME 1: Florida Panthers at New Jersey Devils, 4:00PM on TSN2, NHLN-US, RDSI, FS-F (HD), MSG PLUS (HD)

SBN Sites: Litter Box Cats & In Lou We Trust

Series Record & Storyline(s): Sunshine State 2 - Mobster State 1. New Jersey has become the new Penguins - they can't hold leads. Florida scored four straight goals after falling down 0-3 to Jersey in Game 3. Is Martin Brodeur too old to lead NJ to another run for The Cup? Should the Devils trust their backup Johan Hedberg instead? Hedberg gave up only one goal after Marty was pulled in Game 3.

GAME 2: Boston Bruins at Washington Capitals, 4:30PM on CBC, NBCSN, RDS, NESN (HD), CSN-MA (HD)

SBN Sites: Stanley Cup of Chowder & Japers' Rink

Series Record & Storyline(s): Bean Town 2 - Bill Town 1. The Capitals were able to secure their first win on Monday. They'll have to try to win their second without arguably one of their best player of the playoffs, Nicklas Backstrom. Backstrom received a match penalty after 'accidentally' cross-checking Rich Peverley in the visor. With every match comes an automatic one-game suspension. Wonk wonk.

GAME 3: Phoenix Coyotes at Chicago Blackhawks, 5:00PM on TSN, CNBC, RDS2, FS-A PLUS (HD), CSN-CH (HD)

SBN Sites: Five For Howling & Second City Hockey

Series Record & Storyline(s): BizNasty 2 - Kaner 1. Hmm, think this game will have any animosity after Raffi Torres hit on Marian Hossa? Well, those two players won't be included in any melees. Hossa is out with a concussion (even if the team won't confirm it). Torres is suspended indefinitely pending an in-person meeting with the Department of Player Safety tomorrow. Torres is a repeat offender and I'm predicting 7 game suspension. If Chicago wants to win, they need to have their goalie play waaaay better and score when there are more than 0.05 seconds on the board.

GAME 4: St. Louis Blues at San Jose Sharks, 7:30PM on TSN, NBCSN, RDS, FS-MW (HD), CSN-CA (HD)

SBN Sites: St. Louis Game Time, Fear the Fin & Battle of California

Series Record & Storyline(s): BBQ 2 - Sushi 1. The Sharks appear to be imploding again. Shocker? Not so much. Once again, we're three games in and Patrick Marleau and Joe Pavelski (just to name a few) have failed to register a point. I'm not sure they could, though. Even with Jaroslav Halak out of the line up, co-number one goal Brian Elliot has done pretty well. It doesn't matter how much they score on you, as long as you score one more than them.
